On January 29, 2012, at the exit side of the border crossing point Gradina, the customs officers prevented an attempt of two Turkish citizens to smuggle over 3 kg of gold bullions and gold jewellery worth about 6 million dollars.

Equipment Modernization Contributed to Better Results Achieved
Owing to the high-tech scanners for inspection of goods, which have been used by the customs officers since the last year, only over the past three months 120 illegal border crossings were prevented, as pointed out at the annual press conference, held on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the World Customs Organization (WCO).

On January 12, 2012, the Customs Administration organized a meeting with representatives of the Russian Embassy, Trade Representative Office of the Russian Federation in Belgrade and largest Russian companies in Serbia. On that occasion were outlined the novelties resulting from the amendments to the Free Trade Agreement applied with the Russian Federation, resulting from the creation of the Customs Union between Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan and the single foreign policy of the member countries.
