An attempt of smuggling 660 litres of oil was prevented on the night of July 9/10, 2014, in an action carried out by a river team of Customs Administration.

The oil was detected on occasion of control of the left bank of the Danube on the 1186th km of the river, in a hardly available area near Novi Banovci.

On that occasion, three plastic barrels were detected which were hidden in the bushes, containing total of 660 litres of oil, supposed to have been delivered from a foreign ship.

In the moment when the customs officers appeared, the perpetrators ran away from the site and the barrels were taken to Belgrade with an official river boat.

A misdemeanour procedure has been launched against unidentified persons, and the oil was confiscated until completion of the procedure.
